THE WORK

Depth Without
Color.

Black and gray realism is built in layers: soft gradients, deep blacks and clean highlights that give a design depth without a single drop of color. Done right, it reads clearly from across the room and still rewards a close look.

My black and gray work ranges from single-session forearm pieces to half and full sleeves — portraits, wolves and lions, classical statues, Greek and Roman mythology, skulls and clocks. Larger projects are planned with you so the composition flows with the muscle.

Popular black and gray requests: portraits from photos, animal realism, statues and mythology, memorial pieces and sleeve projects.

QUESTIONS

Black & Gray FAQ

Can you tattoo a portrait from a photo?+

Yes. A sharp, well-lit photo with clear detail in the face makes the biggest difference. Send it through the booking form and I’ll tell you honestly whether it will translate well to skin at the size you want.

How many sessions does a sleeve take?+

It depends on size, detail and how your skin takes ink. Sleeves are usually split into several sessions a few weeks apart; you’ll get a realistic plan before we start.

Where is the studio?+

I work at The Venice Canvas, 1515 Abbot Kinney Blvd #300, Venice, CA 90291 — a short drive from Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Culver City and Mar Vista. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 11 AM–8 PM (closed Mondays). It’s by appointment, so please email ink@cihanpohrenk.com before stopping by.

How do I book?+

Use the booking form with your idea, any reference images, the size and the placement. I’ll reply with availability and next steps.
